My Background
I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of California (PSY 26215) and also a designated Health Service Psychologist by the National Register (54654). In addition to my private practice work I work as a psychologist in the Emergency Department at Kaiser Permanente. I earned my masters and doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California; while there, I worked in a local high school, a community mental health clinic, and at the University of California, Davis (UCD). I completed an APA accredited clinical internship at the University of Iowa and my post-doctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco's (UCSF) Employee Assistance Program (EAP). I have specialized training in working with University students at the undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral level. Additionally I have received specialized training in Employee Assistance related services and in the supervision of new therapists. My research has focused on the components of psychological well-being and social justice. My dissertation examined whether a physical activity (rock climbing) promoted both mindfulness and improvements to psychological well-being. Additionally I have professionally presented on the topics of intercultural development, work place psychological well-being, and mindfulness as a treatment for anxiety and depression.
